Adult Education Program: Film and Discussion

November 16, 2025, 5:15 pm - 9:00 pm

(Adult Education Event)
SODA (Film and Online Discussion)

Please join us for our annual program in which we discuss films shown at the Rutgers Bildner Center Jewish Film Festival. The Program Committee has chosen a film we think you’ll enjoy. We will convene for dinner immediately following the film to discuss it, other festival films that people have seen, and whatever else interests the group. Dinner is tentatively scheduled for the nearby Omega diner, but the dinner location may change depending on the number of people who RSVP.

About the Film
Eva, a beautiful seamstress, arrives with her daughter in an Israeli working-class neighborhood in 1954. Shalom Gottlieb, a former partisan leader and current factory foreman, falls for Eva, who offers him a chance at happiness and a life filled with beauty and laughter. But rumors of Eva’s past as a Kapo during the Holocaust shake the community. Shalom’s choice to be with Eva now means not only betraying his family, but also his fellow partisans and his duty to uncover her secret. Watch the trailer here.

To join us for the film, purchase tickets to see it in the theater on Sunday, November 16 at 5:15 pm. Then email us if you will be joining us for dinner afterwards!

Please email the Program Planning Committee (Claudia Farber, Joyce Orenstein & Judy Stern) with your suggestions for speakers and/or programs, or to join our Committee and help plan our upcoming events!
