Adult Program: “The Mystery of Easter Island: a Lesson on Sustainability” by Jeremy Freedman
IL Peretz principal, Jeremy Freedman, will present a wonderful short documentary and discussion on the environmental issue of sustainability, one week prior to our Tu B’Shvat (New Year of Trees) Seder.
When Europeans first set foot on Easter Island, they found evidence of a once thriving culture and a society that built colossal statues. But at the time of European discovery the population was already reduced to about 1000 individuals. Also, there was a mysterious absence of trees on a tropical island. The mystery of how this thriving culture met its demise will be examined and the important environmental issues that we MUST learn will be discussed. Please join us for this timely and informative presentation.
10:30 AM at Rutgers Prep.
